Google Pixel Night Sight review: camera see in the dark like never before
Google's Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL smartphones take amazing photographs, but a new feature launching today radically improves low light pictures. You could fire up a flash, but the results are often unsatisfactory. And a flash won't do you much good if what you want to shoot is a landscape.
We know Google has impressive camera processing software, so it never seemed particularly outlandish to suggest it could flex those muscles to bring out light in a scene that others cameras just can't.
Night Sight is coming to the original Pixel and Pixel 2 as well, though the implementation and execution are different. Because those prior models don't have Super Res Zoom, Night Sight uses tha tradistional HDR+ frame layering. The original Pixel will also use shorter exposure for each of its frames, because it doesn't have OIS, and may take longer to process because it doesn't have dedicated Pixel Visual Core.
When google launched the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL smartphones recently it promised a Night Sight feature that could adress such problems, by letting you take pictures in dimly places without flash.
Goole seems to have really thought about all aspects of night shooting.

Night Sight really is meant to be used in ultra-low-light condition.
Night Sight also isn't ideal for moving objects: Since the camera is capturing a long exposure and combining multiple photos together, it's better to use for still landscapes, posed pictures, or even selfies. It works with the front or rear camera rather than motion.
Final note: Night Sight doesn't offer much if you try to use it in daylight. Your photos will end up looking exactly like the photos captured by the standard camera, which can help improve HDR on daylight photos.
